We've tried many of the highest rated Ethiopian restaurants in the area, but had never heard of Nazret until a Washington Post article a few weeks back. Glad we read the piece, as the dish we had (can't remember the name, but one of the specials with medium rare beef, jalapeno, onion, etc.) was one of the best, if not the best, we've sampled. Perfectly cooked meat full of flavor and juice, with a nice heat in the seasoning. Looking forward to coming back and trying some other options.
Only critique would be the food came out a little slow, but the owner/chef was very kind and it was worth the wait anyway. -

Friendly service!
We enjoyed chatting with the proprieter here. But, to be honest, the food was only so so. The injeera was tasty (I can't imagine an Ethiopian restaurant with bad injeera!). But the vegetarian sampler was lackluster. They were out of a few of the normal options and the ones they had were okay, but not as good as what I've had elsewhere.
Probably would opt to try a different restaurant if in the area again. -

Food: 5/5. Everything was amazing!! We ordered the deluxe platter, which came with chicken, lamb, and beef, along with a bunch of wats (stews), all served on top of injera. The flavors were perfectly spiced (not too strong, not too mild) and ingredients were extremely fresh. The deluxe platter was a perfect size to share with 5 people, and it comes with unlimited injera for you to eat it with.
Service: 2/5. We arrived at 7:45pm on a Friday night and it seemed like they were very understaffed - we only noticed 3 people working at the restaurant. We had to wave down the waitress to place our order after waiting for nearly 10 minutes after we had decided what we wanted. We then waited another 40 minutes for our food to come out. Once we finally got our food, we were pretty much famished, but all we could do was stare at the delicious-looking platter because the waitress didn't bring out any extra injera or utensils for us to use to eat the food (we couldn't use the injera that was already on the platter because it was completely covered and stacked tall with all of the meats and stews). We tried to wave the waitress down, but she didn't seem to notice us, so one of my friends finally went up to the counter to ask her for either utensils or injera. She said okay but then proceeded to go to the cash register and spend 5 minutes presumably putting together another customer's bill. Finally, the chef/owner came out of the kitchen and saw the despondent and famished looks on our faces and hurriedly went to the kitchen to bring us some injera. He was extremely apologetic and kind, and once we finished our meal and left, he came outside to thank us for dining at his restaurant. His warmth and hospitality made up for the slow service we received all night. -

Delicious food!! Prepared and plated with care. Chef came and met all the customers at their table.
The collards greens and all the different lentils were yummy.Meat was well prepared and tender. We have eaten in so many Ethiopian restaurants but this was one of the

Currently my favorite place in the DC area. I recommend the ZilZil tibs - a 1lb portion of lean beef with rosemary, onion, garlic, tomato, jalapenos. These folks are really nice and the food is great. I appreciated that they prepared it with less oil/butter, as per my request. The cuisine is usually really rich, so it was great to get it a bit less indulgent this time.
Source: I've eaten at many different Ethiopian restaurants in the country over the past 16 years, always ordering some kind of tibs or kitfo, as I prefer this over fish, wot, tere sega, gored gored or dulet.
